The Ring opening review

The first 2 minutes of the horror film The Ring already shows a number of  horror movie cliches, the beginning is creepy and Erie which is used in most horror films, the first main one would be the two teenage girls home alone in a big house joking about the 'tape' that is supposedly kills you, the portrayal of these girls gives a sense of them being the popular stuck up school girls that the audience tends to resent and often want them to die. The second one would be the dark haired girl trying to scare the other girl by telling her whats in the tape and that after someone watches the tape they get a phone call saying they are going to die in seven days

The third would be that the other girl starts to tell the dark haired girl that shes seen the tape and got a phone call and starts to freak out, she then pulls a prank on her friend by pretending to be choking and then starts to laugh, this type of scene can be seen in many other horror films because first they joke about dying and then later on in the film, they always end up dying a horrible death.

Another would be that the girls are childish which means that because they are acting this way they are more likely to be curious and naive. The brown haired girl jokes and acts childish by saying that 'you fell for it' making the audience feel that the other girl is gullible and will believe in anything.
